Reporting to Sahl Banking Business Manager, the job role responsibility is ensuring that all activities carried out by Sahl Banking Unit do not contravene with Shari'ah. Establish standards and provide guidance to assist Shari'ah Advisory Council of the bank in performing Shari'ah reviews to ensure compliance with Shariah as reflected in the rulings and guidelines issued by Shari'ah Advisory Council of KCB Bank Burundi.
Key Responsibilities
Auditing, reviewing customers facilities application to ensure/enforce Shari’ah compliance
Implement Sahl Banking Product Manuals, policies and procedures within the framework of Sahl Banking policy.
Act as a subject matter expert for all branches on Sahl Banking Products operations in terms of Shariah Compliance to all branch staff and invite queries and questions on these topics.
Monitor and evaluate the delivery and maintenance of Sahl Banking services and products to ensure progress toward the goals and objectives of the Shariah and operational plans.
Develop and maintain a Product Range of Sahl banking Products to ensure customer requirements are met.
Perform Quarterly Shari'ah reviews on Sahl Banking Unit operations, Products, Agreements, Contracts and reports to ensure Shariah compliance and Bank Policy compliance.
Discussion and clearance of Sahl Banking Audit review issues and foster effective relationships with key stakeholder.
Drive creation, certification of Shari’ah compliant products, launching and implementation of new Shari’ah compliant products.
Work in liaison with Shariah Advisory Council to ensure compliance including organizing Shariah Advisory Council meetings, implement decisions, actions, Fatwas provided by the committee.
Secretariat services to Shari’ah Advisory Council.
The Person
The successful candidates should have the following requirements:
Degree in Shariah (Islamic Laws/Jurisprudence/Islamic Studies). Professional qualification in Banking, Accounting, Finance, or certification in Islamic Banking field will be added as advantage.
At least three (3) years’ experience in one of the following areas: Risk Management/Shariah review, Shariah Compliance /Good understanding in Shariah Principles.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relations.
Strong customer focus, the ability to analyze and solve problems, think creatively and innovate.
Excellent planning, organization and Business report writing skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
